Students with Disability Review
The Education Directorate is currently undertaking a structured evaluation of support for students with disability in Canberra public schools. To inform this work we are seeking a wide variety of views on how we can best support both students and schools. Previous reviews and stakeholder input regarding supports for students with disability or students with complex needs and behaviours will also be considered as part of this evaluation.
The Directorate is consulting with families, school staff, peak bodies, leading practitioners and students to ensure a wide variety of views are considered. Victoria University’s Centre for International Research on Education Systems is supporting the Directorate in this work as a consultation and research partner and will be receiving and considering all stakeholder feedback.
A Discussion Paper has been developed to provide background on the current policies, programs and supports in place for students with disability in Canberra public schools: Discussion Paper (399 kb)
We would like to invite the Canberra community to contribute to the review process:
- An online questionnaire is open to the whole community. You may like to share the online questionnaire with others in your network who are interested in sharing their views:
- Written submissions can be sent directly to Victoria University’s Centre for International Research on Education Systems firstname.lastname@example.org
All responses to the questionnaire and written submissions will be considered by the Centre for International Research on Education Systems, at Victoria University.
Outcomes of the consultation program will be made available after the conclusion of the program and will inform the future direction of support for students with disability in Canberra public schools.
