Sustainability

Boy watering garden

Margaret Hendry School’s modern design integrates sustainability into every aspect of school life. Eco-friendly design elements such as solar electricity and water collection tanks sit alongside hands on activities to build environmental literacy for students of all ages.

Students are empowered to take action and create a better future through initiatives that make sustainability the new norm. A whole school approach enables us to reduce waste, conserve energy and water, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The school garden has been designed to function as a closed loop system. Children will learn about composting and growing food at the same time as promoting biodiversity.

We are incorporating best practice from day one and will actively working toward accreditation as an ACT Smart School  once the school year begins.

Be part of the sustainability journey by following us on Facebook and reading the school newsletter.
