The ACT Government is delivering new and upgraded public schools to meet the needs of our growing city. Work is underway for Ginninderry’s first preschool to year 6 School and Early Childhood Education Centre (ECEC) in the suburb of Strathnairn. This will enable the growing local population to get an excellent education close to home.

This modern, sustainable facility will be an inclusive space to support all students. The design will include flexible spaces that will foster student development and learning. The school will cater for up to 780 students from preschool to year 6 and a further 130 in an Early Childhood Education Care (ECEC) setting.

In the project's early stages, the school is referred to as its location, Strathnairn ECEC to year 6 School.

The school will be built in a central location within the suburb of Strathnairn, strategically positioned to offer easy access for students and families. The suburb is bounded on two sides by the Murrumbidgee River and Ginninderra Creek, making it a region of vital cultural significance. The new school will consider the nearby nature reserves and the environmentally sustainable design of the Ginninderry development. Comprehensive planning and work have been undertaken to ensure that the school is conveniently located, well-designed, inclusive, sustainable, safe, and able to meet the enrolment needs of the area.

Consistent with the ACT Government’s commitment to take action on climate change, the buildings will use sustainable materials, air permeability membranes and include a solar power generation system when operational.
