CIT Music Course Enabling College Students to Reach for the Stars

ACT public school college students will now have access to professional music training at the Canberra Institute of Technology.

CIT will offer ACT public College student’s access to the Music E Course (Certificate IV in Music Industry).

The course is designed for Year 11 and 12 students planning a career as professional musicians or in the music industry.

The course will strengthen student’s music theory and composition knowledge, music performance ability in contemporary and classical styles, and gain essential skills for working in the music industry.

The capacity of the CIT course to prepare students for a professional career in the music industry is evident in Canberra’s very own Citizen Kay (Kojo Owusu-Ansah), a graduate of CIT’s music course.

Citizen Kay is a two-time ARIA nominated, signed hip-hop artist, producer and sound engineer. The 24-year-old has toured and performed with leading international artists such as Ice Cube, Wiz Khalifa and Public Enemy.

Citizen Kay has released two studio albums and has opened his own studio, where he records, produces, and mixes for local artists and organisations.

Citizen Kay wants to see Canberra become a music hub maintaining local talent and attracting others. With the talents of Citizen Kay and new opportunities for emerging artists across ACT public colleges the future looks bright for a vibrant music scene.
