Teacher Shortage Taskforce Report

The ACT Government’s Teacher Shortage Taskforce has delivered its recommendations into how the system can best respond to workforce challenges across our public schools.

The report highlights a strong commitment between the Australian Education Union (AEU) and the Education Directorate to continue to work together closely and collaboratively, to understand and respond to teacher workforce challenges across ACT public schools.

Key recommendations of the report include:

The report also includes a recommendation to develop a Five-year Classroom Teacher Attraction and Retention Plan by 2023 – with clear deliverables and timelines for implementation.

Further, the ACT will continue to work with other states and jurisdictions on the wider commitment to a National Teacher Workforce Action Plan.

The ACT Education Directorate remain committed to delivering quality learning opportunities for all ACT public school students and ensuring our schools are the education system of choice for teachers, both graduate and experienced.
