Welcoming our new Educators

15 Feb 2019

This year more than 120 new educators joined the ACT Education Directorate.

Our new staff members came together during their first week of Term 1 to learn more about our great public education system, the opportunities available to them as new educators, as well as to network with other colleagues and school leaders.

The new educators will fill teaching roles across the ACT’s 88 public schools. While the majority of the new teachers are recent graduates, there are also teachers who have made the move to Canberra from other teaching roles.

Many of the new educators shared stories of their first day as a teacher, as well as their hopes and dreams for the year.

Ajay Joshi from Yarralumla Primary School

“My first day of school was spectacular. It couldn’t get any better, the kids were perfect” – Ajay Joshi, Yarralumla Primary School

Lauren Wells from Giralang Primary School s

“I’m looking forward to them growing! Growing their brains, growing their bodies, and growing together as a group.” – Lauren Wells, Giralang Primary School

The skilled and dedicated staff we have working in our schools and support office are a key contributor in providing every Canberra child and young person a high-quality education.

Congratulations to each of the new staff members starting their education journey in the ACT. Welcome to an exciting and innovative public education system!
