Students to receive Chromebooks

31 Jan 2019

Students starting Year 7 in 2019, along with new students to ACT public schools in Year 8 to Year 12, will receive a Chromebook in term one.

Chromebooks are used as a teaching and learning tool to help develop the capacity of students to analyse information, solve problems and communicate in an increasingly digital world.

Executive Director of Service Design and Delivery, Ross Hawkins says the program started last year with around 12,500 Chromebooks provided to students in years 7 to 11.

The Chromebooks are provided to those who opt in with other students choosing to use their own devices.

“This is part of our commitment more broadly to equity and making sure that every child has access to devices they need in the school setting. We wanted to make sure that they are available to every child between year 7 and 11,” Mr Hawkins says.
