This week some of our youngest learners received a very special visit.

Aboriginal Artist Kristie Peters is a Wiradjuri woman and founder of Yarrudhamarra Creation visited Narrabundah Early Childhood School’s Koori Preschool group.

Kristie helped the children make paintings which also included the use of natural materials, such as gum leaves, sticks, feathers and sand.

The visit was a ‘hands on’ learning activity, and the children relished the chance to create artwork using things from the land.

Koori Preschools are located at Kingsford Smith, Narrabundah, Wanniassa, Richardson, and Ngunnawal.

The Preschools provide 15 hours per week of free preschool education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 3-5 years in a culturally appropriate setting.

Children benefit from rich play-based programs, aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework.

The program emphasises cultural connection and identity, strong transitions, and parent engagement.
