Magical Mother’s Day for Monash Mums

As the saying goes, every challenge, every adversity — contains within it the seeds of opportunity and growth.

This is certainly the case across ACT Public Schools. Recently, we have seen many examples of community spirit, engagement and connection. The latest example is Monash Primary School.

To celebrate mothers (and carers) of their students in the lead up to Mother’s Day on Sunday, the staff hosted a ‘Mother’s Day Drive-Through Breakfast’. Mothers were treated to a free coffee from local small business Shot Clock Espresso, complemented with a delicious treat baked by staff volunteers.

Careful consideration was put into ensuring social distancing whilst thoughtfully designing a tasty menu which would be appreciated by the community. Staff members enthusiastically greeted families as they drove through the car park to collect their hot beverage and choice of home-cooked cookies, muffins, brownies, slice and cupcakes.

Not only a feat of meticulous planning, but one of honouring those supporting our students as they work through remote learning.

“This is a small gesture to say thank you and acknowledge the mums and significant carers in our community for all that they are doing to support their children in these difficult times. I would like to thank our wonderful staff for their enthusiasm in recognising our fantastic school community,” said Monash Primary School Acting Principal, Todd McCoy.
