Today the ACT Government is opening up priority vaccinations for all ACT Year 12 students, AST supervisors and facilitators and to teachers, educators and staff that have direct contact with children in their daily work at schools and early childhood centres.

All ACT Year 12 students are now eligible for priority vaccination and can book to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine from 6 to 17 September.

Priority COVID-19 vaccinations are also available to staff supervising and facilitating Year 12 ACT Scaling Tests (AST), Higher School Certificate (HSC) or International Baccalaureate (IB) from 6 September to 19 September.

Both Year 12 students and staff supervising and facilitating these tests will be able to have their second dose from 27 September to 8 October. This will ensure they have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, ahead of the ASTs in mid-October.

All ACT teachers, educators and staff that have direct contact with children in their daily work at schools and early childhood centres will also have access to priority vaccinations from today.

This is a recognition that vaccinating our educators, teachers and school-staff is an essential step towards ensuring the safe return to normality for Canberrans.

Planning is underway for a vaccination program for ACT students aged 12 and above, including prioritising and supporting access for key cohorts such as students with disability. Further details will be made available as soon as possible, noting that vaccine supply will be key to the pace and timing of this program.
