The number one priority in returning to onsite learning is to ensure the health and safety of students, staff and their families.
There will be a staged approach to returning to on-campus learning in Term 4.
In Weeks 1 & 2 of Term 4, (5 October to 15 October)year 12 students will have the opportunity to attend specific sessions on campus to undertake key assessments, for example, practical classes, supervised exams and the AST.
Schedules for these sessions are being developed by each college, and teachers will communicate directly with students about how their classes will be conducted in the first two weeks of term.
For those undertaking the ACT Scaling Test (AST), this will be undertaken at your college in week 2, on Tuesday 12 October and Wednesday 13 October.
Year 11 students will be allowed back in the first two weeks of term to undertake essential exams and assessments, but only if this cannot be deferred until week 3. Year 11s will not be allowed to mix with year 12 students.
From 18 October, ACT year 11 and 12 students will return to face-to-face learning, with the potential for some online lessons where circumstances require. The full range of services in ACT public colleges will resume on site, for example, wellbeing, careers and pathways support services.
Extracurricular activities will not proceed on site during this time and students must leave the school site as soon as they have completed onsite activities.
There are COVID-19 guidelines that must be followed by students and staff whilst onsite to help keep the school community safe.
These guidelines seek to balance the health and safety of staff and young people, with the benefits of face-to-face learning, particularly during a critical time for students. You can find those health guidelines here: Health Guidelines for Senior Secondary (194kb).
All staff, visitors, and college students must wear a face mask on site, unless exempt, when eating or drinking, when communicating with a person who is hard of hearing, when exercising vigorously, when outside alone, or in an emergency.
The Term 4 Roadmap for ACT Public Colleges steps out in detail the key upcoming dates for college students, you can access the roadmap here: Term 4 Roadmap for ACT Public Colleges (283kb).
