Year 12s set to return at the start of term 4

14 Sep 2021

Term 4 2021

Year 12 students will return to on campus learning from the start of term four (Tuesday 5 October). This is a critical time for Year 12 students, who are completing their final weeks of school and final exams and assessments.

All year 12 students, as well teachers and school staff, will have had the opportunity for priority vaccination before they return.

Year 11 students will return to on-campus learning from week 3 (Monday 18 October), as long as health conditions hold. This will allow them to complete course work and assessments that contribute to their senior secondary certificate.

We will be working over the school holidays to develop further plans for a phased return to on campus learning when it is safe to do so. Any plans will be subject to health advice including case numbers and vaccination rates and further consultation with students, families and staff. At this stage ACT students from preschool to year 10 will continue remote learning for at least the first four weeks of term 4.

Taking a staggered approach to returning to school gives us a chance to respond if circumstances change.

Importantly, all schools will remain open for vulnerable students and for families who can't have their children at home because of their work. Specialist schools will also remain open for their students.

You can find more information and frequently asked questions on our COVID-19 school advice page.

From Monday 20 September all children in the ACT aged 12 years and over will be able to book a Pfizer vaccination appointment at an ACT Government clinic. There are two vaccines approved for 12 to 15-year-olds in Australia, with Pfizer available from participating GPs already, and Moderna expected to be available from participating pharmacies from 20 September.

You can find more information about the vaccination program and how to book on the ACT Government’s COVID-19 website External Link.
