Kilbey, Steve – Lyneham High School

Steven Kilbey is a founding member, lead singer-songwriter and bass guitarist for Australian rock band, The Church. He is also a music producer, poet and painter. The Church went on to international fame when ‘Under The Milky Way’ from the album ‘Starfish’, achieved success in Australia and the US. The song won the Best Single of the Year at the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) awards in 1989. For his work with The Church, Kilbey and his bandmates were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2011, the Australian Songwriters Association inducted Kilbey into the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame. As of October 2014, Kilbey had 750 original songs registered with Australian copyright agency APRA.
