Francis Owusu - Chief Executive Officer Kulture Break

Owusu, Francis - Lake Tuggeranong CollegeFrancis Owusu is a dancer, choreographer, mentor and community activist. He is the CEO of Kulture Break, a charity youth services provider with a focus on community arts and youth engagement and empowerment. Kulture Break has also been a launching pad for some of Australia’s most successful performing artists such as Timomatic and Solo from Justice Crew. Francis has also collaborated with major recording artists such as Marcia Hines, Guy Sebastian, Jon Stevens and Timomatic. He was selected to be an ACT Cultural Exchange Representative for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. He is the creator of ‘Every Chance to Dance’; Australia's first online dance curriculum teaching video resources for primary schools and also won the 2013 Australian of the Year ACT Local Hero award.

As a result of his enduring commitment to the young people of Canberra, Francis was honored with the 2013 Australian of the Year ACT Local Hero Award. Adding to this significance was his selection by the ACT Government as 1 of 14 most influential people in Canberra to act as a ‘champion’ in an exclusive leaders advisor group designed to develop the Time to Talk 2030 – Shaping Canberra’s Future campaign.
