Giralang Primary School students and staff had a couple of unexpected visitors last week.
Paige Rule, 5, is just starting to trace letters, play with new friends and learn about the world in her first year of school. Last October, just a few months before she started Kindergarten, Paige was diagnosed with leukaemia, a blood cancer affecting thousands of children across Australia.
Sixteen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students were recently presented with scholarships by the Education Directorate to help them further their study.
The ACT Education Directorate hosted a national forum to address the issue of occupational violence in schools. The purpose of the forum was to share work safety learnings across jurisdictions and collectively identify best practice strategies for supporting safe and inclusive school communities for our staff and students. For many students, figuring out what they want to do for work once they finish their education is a difficult decision. The Industry Pathways Course at CIT is a vocational training program helping Canberra’s Year 9 and 10 students explore potential career options.
