School is back at Gold Creek – and as the students return, they are also discovering the newest addition to the Junior Campus.
The brand new portable spaces are open and already taking their first ever students. These state-of-the-art adaptable learning spaces will hold four classes, and features a co-learning central area allowing students to learn together.
Fully-accessible and built to the highest standards, these new portable spaces are the first stage of expanding the capacity of Gold Creek School’s Junior Campus.
Principal Angela Spence said the opening of the new facilities was exciting for both students and teachers.
“Whenever we get new spaces like this, students always want to be in the classes that are in them,” Principal Spence said.
“These new facilities are a vehicle for future-focused learning and it is great to have them ready for the 2019 school year.”
In addition to the new portables, the Gold Creek School Junior Campus now also features new basketball courts, as well as landscaping for the new areas.
But there is more to come.
While these works have just finished, construction will begin this year on the second stage of the Gold Creek School Junior Campus expansion.
A brand new, modern learning facility will be built towards the rear of the school site, further expanding this popular school’s capacity and bringing in even more students from the surrounding Gungahlin suburbs.
The new build will takes cues from the just-opened Margaret Hendry School in Taylor – another school that will cater for the growing demand for public education services across Gungahlin.
“We’ve got our eyes on the future – our new buildings will give us extra flexibility and capacity as we teach the next generation of students,” Principal Spence said.
“It’s an exciting time to be at Gold Creek School!”
