Doors ready to open at Canberra’s newest public school

The learning environments are set up, the library is stocked, and the playgrounds are just waiting to be filled with excited children.

On 4 February, students will stream through the doors of the Margaret Hendry School, located in Taylor.

The school will cater for students from preschool to year 6. Principal Kate Woods says it’s an exciting time. “We’re ecstatic and can’t wait to welcome our children and begin learning and inquiring together.”

The school has been hosting stay and play sessions, meet and greet sessions and running an active social media site, so families already feel part of the school community.

Kate says her focus is on nurturing the development of an inclusive and connected community. “My priority is to connect everyone to the Margaret Hendry School Community through our four pillars for learning – Grow, Collaborate, Connect, Love. Together we will determine the school culture and define who we are as individuals and how we are together”.
