Tuition and Administrative Fees for Mainstream Schooling - Student Visa Subclass 500 (based on one academic year)

The following fees and charges are for students studying in Canberra government schools on Student Visa Subclass 500.

* This fee covers school tuition plus the Parental Voluntary Contribution, mainstream curriculum materials and activities, textbook hire, required school uniform and consumable charges. It does not include the cost of materials used by students to make items which they take away from school, non-curriculum excursion costs, and any additional support and service fees that may be incurred by students with additional needs.

Please Note: late payment of tuition fees by returning students will incur a $640 surcharge (GST inclusive).

Continuing students will receive an invoice in Term 4 each year from their school international coordinator for the following year's tuition fees.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

It is a requirement before the grant of a subclass 500 (school sector) visa that the student has OSHC confirmed for the duration of their visa. The International Education Unit (IEU) facilitates the arrangement of OSHC policies on behalf of new students, if requested. The current preferred provider of OSHC in the ACT is BUPA. While the IEU collects premiums on behalf of BUPA, the OSHC contract is between the student and BUPA itself.

The current cost of premiums is as follows (prices effective 17 December 2018 and are subject to change):

In the event that students do not wish for the IEU to arrange their OSHC, they will be required to provide a current policy to the IEU before a visa can be granted and enrolment confirmed.

Tuition and Administrative Fees for Mainstream Schooling - Short Term

The following fees and charges are for students studying in Canberra government schools as a short term student. The study period for these charges is for 5 - 10 weeks only and the fees are scaled.

Tuition and Administrative Fees for Mainstream Schooling - Dependants of Temporary Residents (based on one academic year)

The following fees and charges are for the dependants of temporary residents who are not eligible for fee exemption.

* Continuing students will receive an invoice posted to their last notified residential address in Canberra in Term 4 of the preceding year. Please advise the Education Directorate of any change of address.
