The ACT Public Sector Education and Training Directorate (Teaching Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2018-22 (the Agreement) has been overwhelmingly accepted by staff.
Almost 99% of teaching staff across the Directorate voted in support of the new Agreement.
At the Education Directorate, we are committed to supporting our teaching workforce to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across all our public schools. We know that highly skilled and well supported teachers and school leaders are the key to delivering better outcomes for our students.
The new Agreement includes a range of benefits for ACT public school teachers and school leaders, such as:
- The highest wages in Australia;
- The best superannuation benefits in the country;
- Increased professional recognition for teachers;
- Better support for teachers;
- Investment in school leaders; and
- Safe and supportive workplaces.
The new Agreement means teachers in the ACT public school system are better paid, better supported and have access to better training than ever before.
The Agreement will now be provided to the Fair Work Commission for approval. The new Agreement will take effect seven days after it is approved by the Fair Work Commission. The pay increase will take effect on 8 August 2019, with backpay occurring from 22 August.
This Agreement provides a great platform for key education reforms through our Future of Education Strategy and our Strategic Plan – to meet our vision to be a leading learning organisation where our people know they matter.
The new Agreement replaces the expired ACT Public Sector Education and Training Directorate (Teaching Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2014-18.
