The School Satisfaction and Climate survey has opened for 2020, giving students, school staff, parents and carers the opportunity to have a say in shaping their school.

This year it’s even easier to give feedback, with the survey available on any mobile device.

The survey results are used to inform the school improvement process and identify what schools are doing well and how they can improve.

In previous years, the survey has shown high levels of satisfaction across public schools, with 2019 data showing that 85% of parents/carers, 90% of staff and 74% of students were satisfied with public education in the ACT.

Key elements of school climate include school identification, academic emphasis, a sense of shared mission, and rules and processes in the school, which are all important indicators of educational outcomes and quality of the learning environment.

At a broader level, the data gives an overall picture of public education in the ACT, with the climate module forming part of a longitudinal study being conducted in partnership with researchers at the Australian National University (ANU).

The survey is open from Monday 10 August and closes on Monday 31 August.
