At December 2023
Purpose: Under section 10 of the Period Products and Facilities (Access) Act 2023, the ACT Government must maintain written arrangements for access to period products at public places on the Suitable Places List. Access Arrangements set out how:
- A person can access period products at approved suitable places in a way that respects their dignity; and
- A reasonable range of period products will be available at the place.
Locations: Period products are available from ACT public school front offices. In addition, individual schools may specify further locations for period products to be made available that suit the individual school environment and context.
Users: Enrolled students and staff of ACT public schools.
Access arrangements (subject to review/change): ACT public schools will continue to make period products available to students and staff through school front offices and via any additional existing mechanisms. Information about where to access period products will be available in ACT public schools at the front office.
Range of products: Pads and tampons are available in ACT public high schools, colleges and combined schools. Pads are available in ACT public primary schools.
Principle of Dignity: The provision of period products in ACT public schools supports student dignity in an age and stage appropriate manner.
