Celebrating Telopea Park School 100-Year Anniversary

31 Jul 2023

On 11 September 2023, Telopea Park School celebrates its 100-year anniversary. To commemorate its rich history, the school partnered with the Canberra Museum and Gallery to create an exhibition, displaying a fascinating collection of objects from the Telopea Park School archive, including the original school registers from the 1920s.

This free exhibition is open to the public until 30 September this year.

On 19 July, the Canberra Museum and Gallery also invited Ms Esther Davies, former teacher and now archivist, to share the history of Telopea Park School. Past students and staff members were entertained with stories about how the school was built, the notable alumni – including Gough Whitlam – who attended the school, and the school’s transition to a French-Australian bilingual school.
