The ACT Regulatory Authority, Children’s Education and Care Assurance (CECA), administers the Education and Care National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations covering approved early childhood education and care services (education and care) in the ACT.
CECA’s key functions:
- Assess services against the National Quality Standard and determine the ratings of those services.
- Work with Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) to promote continuous quality improvement in education and care services.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with the National Law and Regulations, through compliance and risk audits of services and by receiving and investigating serious incidents and complaints.
- Regulate licensed children’s programs under the Children and Young People Act 2008.
- Assess and grant approvals, including provider and service approvals.
- Work locally and nationally to advance education and care policy and regulation.
- Educate and inform education and care services and the community about the National Quality Framework.
