Belinda Kowalski - Teacher Librarian - Forrest Primary School

Teacher Librarian Belinda Kowalski

Teacher librarian Belinda Kowalski started in her role at Forrest Primary School last year, and has been finding it an exciting and enriching experience.

“Working as a teacher librarian is extremely rewarding,” Belinda said.

“Since starting in the teacher librarian role at Forrest Primary this year, I have had the opportunity to help many students improve their knowledge and understanding of the world.”

Qualified teacher librarians support students, classrooms and whole schools by enhancing digital and information literacy and helping students become critical, creative and collaborative thinkers.

The Education Directorate is currently hiring more teacher librarians across our public schools. We’re doing this because we know how important they are.

“Teacher librarians, with help from other library staff, provide specialist expertise in literature, information literacy and digital literacy, as well as maintaining a current and relevant library collection,” Belinda said.

“School libraries are the heart of a school and I would encourage anyone interested in becoming a teacher librarian to consider applying.”

If you're interested in applying to become a teacher librarian you can contact edu.librarians@act.gov.au. Expressions of interest close on Monday 29 April.
