Hayden Styman - Classroom teacher - Bonython Primary School

Hayden Styman

With Term 1 kicking off this week, one of our favourite parts about starting the new year is the fresh faces that deck the school corridors and flood the playground. Each year we are lucky to celebrate our new educators who join the ranks to play a pivotal role in the lives of their students.

One such new educators for 2023 is Hayden Styman, who will be starting his new role at Bonython Primary School in Term 1.

Although Hayden Styman is new to being a teacher, he is not a fresh face at Bonython Primary School as he has been working with the school since 2016! Hayden volunteered his time at Bonython after finishing college and discovered his passion for education. He went on to becoming a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) and continued to build his network within the school. After deciding to make the jump into tertiary education, Hayden with the support of the school went on to study to at the University of Canberra while continuing to work as a Permanent LSA. Fast forward to 2023 and Hayden is ready to kick off the school year with his new Year 1/2 Class.

Hayden said what inspired him to become a teacher was ‘seeing the impact the other teachers were making and being able to build connections with the students.

Principal of Bonython Primary Greg Terrell said the school was very proud of him. “I've seen him grow in confidence professionally, but also as a person,” he said.

“Hayden’s experience, and the opportunity to become involved with the school community so early in his career, gave him insight into the school system and provided the building blocks to become an informed new educator.”

Congratulations Hayden on your appointment, we can't wait to hear about what else you get up to on your journey!
