The Supporting Parent Engagement Grant Program provides individual grants of up to $20,000 to enhance family-school partnerships as well as strengthen P&C association governance and capability to effectively operate businesses (eg: canteens, uniform shops).
Eligible Applicants include
- P&C associations linked with an ACT public school (including sub-committees such as school canteen, OSHC, uniform shop)
- ACT public schools (that do not have an active P&C association)
- the ACT Council of Parent and Citizens Association (on behalf of a parent group wishing to form a P&C association).
A total of $800,000 has been made available for this program. Applications will be accepted in various rounds during the 2020 year as specified in the Funding Guidelines
The Grants Program will close when total funding is expended. Applications can be submitted electronically via the Application Form.

Round 1 Outcome
The following applications were successful in Round 1 ($118,487 total granted):
Recipient: Macquarie Primary School
Project: Macquarie Primary School Parent and Community Garden
Description: The creation of a parent and community garden to build social connections within the school community. The garden will create a sense of belonging and learning for families, children and staff, particularly those families that do not have access to a garden space at home.
Recipient: Southern Cross Early Childhood School (SCECS)
Project: Yarning Corner
Description: The creation of a culturally inclusive ‘yarning corner’. The grant will support the refurbishment of an existing space to bring families, children and staff together to support children in their learning.

Project: Designing a Modernised Approach to Parental Engagement
Description: To develop a strategy for parent engagement designed for modern times in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant will support a research study into understanding the current challenges, barriers and opportunities to re-engage the school community in today’s climate and implement the strategy.
Recipient: Evatt Primary School
Project: Evatt Community Hub
Description: To create a multi-purpose community hub. The grant will support the refurbish of an existing space to bring families, children and staff together to create opportunities to increase volunteer participation, business acumen of the P&C association and to support children’s learning.
Recipient: Charles Weston School P&C Association
Project: Reaching our Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Parents and Community Members
Description: To enhance effective communication to families where English is an alternative language or dialect (EALD). The grant supports the production of resource material in a range of languages to cater for the diversity of the school community and make parent engagement culturally inclusive.
Recipient: Canberra College
Project: Connecting with Parents and our Community
Description: To undertake the discovery and investigatory phase (Phase 1) of a parent engagement strategy. The grant will support events to connect parents and the school community and gauge expectations and potential interest in establishing a P&C association.
