Welcome to the Department of Education and Training’s Annual Report for the financial year 2009-10. Initiatives in relation to online accessibility are being trialled. Portable Document Format (PDF) versionThe original print version is available as a PDF. PDF is a technology developed by Adobe Systems. It allows print documents, such as this report, to be compressed into electronic files directly from the original documents. These files can then be viewed using Acrobat Reader, available free for download on the Adobe websiteExternal Link. This version can be printed and transported easily.

HyperText Markup Language (HTML) versionThe HTML version is considered the most user friendly, its format generally minimising download time. The HTML version uses the web browser to display web pages. Many documents referenced in the report are hyperlinked for the reader’s convenience. One drawback is that scanned material (such as the Financial Report) is inserted as images and cannot be viewed in this version. Images are still accessible through the PDF version.

Rich Text Format (RTF) versionRTF is readable across many programs and platforms, and all major word processing programs can read RTF. In addition, desktop database applications, e-mail clients, and operating systems (such as Unix, Macintosh, and Windows) can read RTF files. This version can be useful for downloading and accessing offline. It can also be transferred to non-Web devices such as mobile phones.
